 Restaurant Week
Boston 2013

Bistro 5

March 27th, 2013
Malden, MA

Abstract

Bistro 5 became a restaurant week choice in a game of point and click!  Wanting to find another restaurant but tired of putting in the effort of pouring over menus that just weren't meeting our needs as a diverse trio, Nick and Tara tried the "How about THIS!?" and dropped a finger on the scrolling mobile Boston Restaurant Week app.... Who knew that our game of chance would land us on a  menu that looked FANTASTIC right from the get go?! So we got our reservations on OpenTable and off to Malden we went!

 Restaurant Week Boston 2013

Masa

March 12th, 2013
Boston, MA

Abstract

We always hem and haw over where to start on restaurant week. There are always so many great options. Masa has been on our list for a few years now and so, we decided this was the year and made reservations... little did we know it was going to snow! But the three of us made it out there (because we're crazy like that) and boy were we not disappointed!

 Restaurant Week
Boston 2013

29 Newbury

March 22nd, 2013
Boston, MA

Abstract

29 Newbury Street was a backup choice for us but the menu seemed to draw us in and it felt like a good choice to try out during Restaurant Week so we booked for a party of 6 and headed up to Tremont Street after a day at PAX East (a gaming con held in Boston every year.) So you'll see some extra foods in this one that we might have a few words to add to but since it wasn't all ours, you might only be getting our experience (though the overall thought was pretty universal...)

 Exploring Providence

Pot Au Fue

February 23rd, 2013
Providence, RI

Abstract

We were in Providence for a little fun night, we had talked about what we wanted to do for dinner and our first choice did not have any times.  We then pulled up open table and found a little french restaurant and it sounded pretty good and had the appropriate time slots so we made a reservation.  This is not the end of the story though, about halfway through the movie we were going to we received a call from the owner and he stated that the time on open table was incorrect, and they would not be able to see us for about 45 minutes after our initial reservation. We said okay, still excited about some of the food options.

Holiday Dinner Party

170 Locust Street

January 7th, 2012
Fall River, MA

Abstract

Dinner parties have always been something that we've enjoyed in our house.  Being foodies and since Stephan spent so much of his time cooking in various levels of food establishments, we've taken pride in being able to bring those foods home and to create new and different types of food to present to our guests.  Together as a group, we worked together on this weekend to pull off a (late) Holiday Dinner Party for some of our friends. There were ELEVEN of us all stowed around the table in my kitchen and living room!

Feedback from the guests says our efforts were a success! We even spent time discussing what we could do different or better for... next time. Yes! There will be a next time!

Asbury Park Adventures

Taka

November 25th, 2012
Asbury Park, NJ

Abstract

Taka came up in a Yelp search during the "pre-visit" research that goes into all of our trips to new or not-frequently-visited areas.  We knew we were going to Asbury Park, New Jersey... we knew nothing about the area. So research yielded a Japanese place rated with 4 out of 5 stars and... sushi is always a win with me so it went on the short list of "places we should check out."

While not exactly the best place we've ever been to, Taka had some interesting items and good food to offer. The service the night we went was a little slow but we had a good time and would probably tell people it's worth a visit if you're in town.

Good Morning Asbury Park!

Frank's Deli & Restaurant

November 25th, 2012
Asbury Park, NJ

Abstract

One of Stephan's favorite meals is breakfast so when we travel we often leave breakfast to Stephan. This trip had him asking the locals for the "best" breakfast spot in their opinion.

Through the opinions of a few people we wandered about a mile from the hotel towards Main Street where we found Frank's.  Upon entering it was much like any other diner; a myriad of tables, shiny metal with leather-topped stools at the bar and a full length of the restaurant server area leading down to the grill area and then an entry off into the "back room" that all diners seem to have behind the bar.  It felt homey and comfortable and we just settled right in and got to the menu.
